Website Maintenance Terms & Fair Usage Policy

These terms apply to all Website Maintenance & Hosting Plans provided by SDL Creative.


  1. Overview

Website Maintenance Plans are designed to provide ongoing technical stability, security, and limited support for WordPress websites built or managed by SDL Creative.

All plans are subscription-based and billed monthly unless otherwise agreed in writing.

All pricing excludes VAT.


  1. What Maintenance Covers

All plans include:

  • Managed WordPress hosting
  • SSL certificate management
  • Core WordPress updates
  • Plugin update monitoring
  • Security monitoring
  • Daily backups
  • Uptime monitoring

Maintenance ensures your website remains secure, operational, and technically up to date.

Maintenance does not include unlimited content changes or development work unless specified in your plan.


  1. Fair Usage Policy

Maintenance plans are intended for routine support and minor adjustments.

They are not a substitute for ongoing development projects.

Fair usage includes:

  • Small text edits
  • Image swaps
  • Minor layout adjustments
  • Plugin configuration tweaks
  • General technical assistance

Fair usage does not include:

  • Full page redesigns
  • New page builds
  • Major functionality changes
  • Custom development
  • E-commerce reconfiguration
  • Third-party software troubleshooting
  • Branding or design work

SDL Creative reserves the right to determine whether a request falls within fair usage.

Work outside fair usage will be quoted separately at our standard hourly rate.


  1. Support Hours (Where Applicable)

Plans that include support hours (e.g., Growth or Custom Plans):

  • Support hours do not roll over month-to-month.
  • Unused time expires at the end of each billing cycle.
  • Additional work is billed at the discounted rate applicable to your plan.

Support time is calculated in 15-minute increments.


  1. Hosting Environment

Websites are hosted within SDL Creative’s managed hosting environment.

Basic and Growth plans operate on shared infrastructure.

Custom plans may include dedicated or enhanced infrastructure where agreed.

Clients may not install:

  • Pirated software
  • Null plugins or themes
  • Malicious scripts
  • Software that significantly impacts server performance

If such software is installed, SDL Creative reserves the right to suspend service until resolved.


  1. Performance & Uptime

We target 99% uptime across all plans.

SDL Creative is not liable for downtime caused by:

  • Third-party hosting providers
  • DNS providers
  • Domain registrars
  • External API services
  • Cyber attacks outside reasonable preventative measures
  • Force majeure events

  1. Backups & Disaster Recovery

Daily backups are maintained.

In the event of website corruption or breach:

  • Restoration from the most recent clean backup is included.
  • Extensive forensic security investigations are not included unless agreed separately.

  1. SEO Services

Where SEO setup or advanced SEO is included:

This refers to:

  • Technical SEO configuration
  • Meta data setup
  • Indexing configuration
  • Basic on-page optimisation

Maintenance plans do not guarantee search rankings, traffic increases, or conversion outcomes.

SEO campaigns or ongoing marketing services require separate agreement.


  1. Domains & Email

Where domain registration or email accounts are included:

  • Domains remain under SDL Creative management unless transferred.
  • Renewal fees are covered only while an active maintenance plan remains in place.
  • Email misuse, spam activity, or abuse may result in suspension.

  1. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide timely content and approvals
  • Maintain secure login credentials
  • Not grant third-party developer access without notifying SDL Creative
  • Avoid installing plugins or making changes that may compromise site stability

If third-party changes cause issues, recovery work may be billable.


  1. Payment & Suspension

Maintenance fees are due monthly.

Failure to pay may result in:

  • Suspension of support
  • Suspension of hosting
  • Website taken offline after reasonable notice

Reactivation may incur an administrative fee.


  1. Cancellation

Clients may cancel with 30 days’ written notice.

Upon cancellation:

  • Hosting and maintenance cease.
  • Website files may be transferred upon request.
  • Domain transfer assistance can be provided where applicable.

SDL Creative is not responsible for post-transfer technical issues.


  1. Limitation of Liability

SDL Creative’s liability is limited to the total maintenance fees paid in the preceding 3 months.

We are not liable for:

  • Loss of revenue
  • Loss of data beyond recoverable backups
  • Indirect or consequential damages

  1. Amendments

SDL Creative reserves the right to update these terms.

Clients will be notified of significant changes.
